Today, people are living longer than ever before, and as the baby boomers age, the number of older adults is expected to increase exponentially over the coming decade. To best meet the needs of an aging population and to improve the health of older adults, it is critical to train nurses, social workers and other healthcare professional on the special healthcare needs of the elderly population. The accelerated online geriatric healthcare certificate will allow healthcare professionals to gain invaluable knowledge of the aging population, including the social, biological, and psychological aspects of aging. The certificate consists of five courses, each six weeks in length.
